The Wrangler Rodeo Arena is one of the live events happening during the day. They go on everyday inside the Cowboy Christmas and it highlights the future of rodeo. There are over 850 young athletes competing at the Junior World Finals.


This is an event presented by RODEOHOUSTON. This is your stop inside Cowboy Christmas to hear some live music or a talk shows, which is daily. There is also a Sports roundup every day at 9:15 am. This is NFR’s music arena.

Steer Wrestling

Steer wrestling requires strength, speed, and agility. The object of steer wrestling is to use your strength to wrestle a steer down to the ground. The competitor must do this as quickly as possible. The problem, the steer usually weighs twice as much as the cowboy. They will be running as well.

Tie-Down Roping

A mounted cowboy starts from a box, a three-sided fenced area adjacent to the chute holding the calf. The fourth side of the box opens into the arena. A cowboy's success in tie-down roping depends in large part on the precise teamwork between him and his horse. This is very exciting to watch.
